Project Objective

The objectives of this study are to determine the best method/process for selecting highway/rail crossings projects in Missouri. The best procedure will then be documented for application. The second is to identify promising new crossing treatments that can be applied in Missouri.
 

Project Abstract

This project will provide a resource center available for use by local officials throughout the state of Missouri in identifying the new treatments that would be most promising for application in Missouri.

 

Task Description

1. Review literature -- research and practice. 2. Assess practice in other states. 3. Develop set of evaluation criteria for selection procedures. 4. Propose most promising selection procedure. 5. Evaluate data requirements and collection practices. 6. Determine potential new treatments for problem locations. 7. Develop/adapt/package procedure for MoDOT to follow.
 

Anticipated Benefits

Prepare final report with procedure to select sites for improvement and appropriate new treatments for Missouri.
