Project Objective The expected results from this project will be initial guidelines dealing
with feasibility of using this system in ready mix industry. These guidelines will provide both MoDOT and system designers with a resource to implementing, testing, and making improvements in QC/QA systems.

Project Abstract This study will evaluate the performance of an automated system of
measuring the fresh properties of concrete in truck mixer. The automated system called “Verifi” enables the evaluation of slump and temperature variations as well as monitoring of the amount of water and/or dispersant added to the mixture. This collaboration is essential for future quality management of infrastructure materials.

Relationship to other Research/Projects

This is a standalone project under the advanced materials
theme of the Center for Transportation Infrastructure and Safety, National University Transportation Center at Missouri S&T.

Transportation-Related Keywords

Recycled concrete aggregate, field performance, durability, sustainability, pavement construction

Technology Transfer Activities

The technology transfer activities will include a final research report and dissemination of the findings through a national conference via technical
presentation(s) and publication(s).

Project Deliverables

Monthly updates will be provided to the MoDOT primary contact assigned to this research project. Quarterly reports will be submitted on or before the last working day in March, June, September, and December during the course of the project.

Presentations
An interim presentation will be scheduled with MoDOT and at the DOT’s approval an associated MoDOT Technical Advisory Group (TAG). The research team will also be available to provide quarterly presentations that coincide with the quarterly reports at the discretion of MoDOT. The
final presentation will be scheduled with MoDOT to coincide with submittal of the draft report and draft specifications.

Final Report and Final Specifications
The final report and final specifications will be submitted after finishing all tasks of the project.  The final version will address all of MoDOT’s review comments from the draft submittals.

Anticipated Benefits

By the end of Task II, the investigators will develop recommendations
for using Verifi system. Based on these recommendations and the results of this study, specification for the use of Verifi system in quality management will be made. The recommendations will address the benefits of generating qualitative measures of implementing the Verifi system in the production of concrete.
